Vice-Rector for international affairs at Eötvös Loránd University (Budapest), Professor of Chinese studies at Eötvös Loránd University, Director of the Institute of East Asian Studies. Main research fields include: Chinese Buddhism, especially the History and philosophy of the Chinese Huayan Buddhist school. Major publications include: Kínai buddhizmus a középkorban - Cs’eng-kuan élete és filozófiája [Chinese Buddhism in the Middle Ages -- Chengguan's Life and Philosophy] (1998), Buddha megjelenése a világban [Buddha’s Manifestation in the World] (2002), A Religious Leader in the Tang: Chengguan’s Biography (2002), Reflecting Mirrors: Perspectives on Huayan Buddhism(2007).
