Professor of Graduate School of Letters, Osaka University. Main research fields include: the history of Central Asia, mainly East Turkistan (modern Xinjiang) under domination of the West Uighur kingdom (9-12. cent) and the Mongol empire (13-14. cent.), philological edition of Old Uighur and Mongolian documents excavated from Xinjiang and Dunhuang. Major publications include: “A Sogdian-Uigur Bilingual Fragment from the Arat Collection”; “Revising the Uigur Inscriptions of the YulinCaves”.
