Richard Trappl is an Austrian Director of Confucius Institute at the University of Vienna and teaching at the Department of East Asia Studies University/Sinology Chinese Literature and at the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna. His research focuses on Chinese classical literature and modern literature, translation and terminology studies, Chinese-Western intercultural studies. Among his numerous publications is  the Literary Theory and the Theory of Early Novels of the Northern and Southern Dynasties.
