Maria Istvanova is a PhD candidate in Comenius University in Bratislava and an advanced student of the “Chinese and foreign training project of New Sinology Program” in 2019 and 2021. Her research focuses on corpus linguistics and translation theory. Among her numerous publications are “Characteristics of Mo Yan’s Language Reflected in Translations: Wa in Examples”, “On the Use of Corpora in Second Language Acquisition: Chinese as an Example”, “Stop Consonants in Chinese and Slovak: Contrastive Analysis by Using Praat”, “Comparative Study of Affricate Initial Consonants in Chinese and Slovak”. Her current projects are “Learner Corpus Research and Chinese Learner Corpora”, “Chinese Learner Corpus of Slovak Students: From Design to Annotation”.
