Robert L. Chard is a Fellow of St Anne’s College and Associate Professor of Classical Chinese at the University of Oxford. His primary research interests include the cultural history of Confucianism and the study of Confucian ritual. His recent publication is Ritual and the Early Chinese State: A Study of the Ritual Classics from the Warring States to the Han Dynasty (to 9 CE) (Brill, 2021).
