Li Xuetao is a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) and a member of the German National Academy of Sciences (Leopoldina). He is a recipient of the Special Allowance from the State Council of China, and holds a Master of Arts and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Bonn, Germany. His research focuses on global history, Sino-foreign relations, history of German philosophy, and Chinese Buddhist history. Currently, he serves as the Dean of the School of History, BFSU, Director of the Institute of Global History, BFSU, President (2017-2018) of the Society for Cultural Interaction in East Asia (Osaka), and Vice President (2017-2022, 2022-present) of the Chinese Society for the History of Sino-Foreign Relations (Beijing). He is the editor-in-chief of several academic journals, including Global History, Asia and the World, and Journal of Cultural Interaction in East Asia.
