Tao Chen is the Vice Dean, Professor, and Ph.D. Supervisor at the School of Liberal Arts, Renmin University of China. He also serves as the Vice Dean of the Digital Humanities Research Institute, Director of the Imaging Laboratory, and Member of the Academic Committee Member for Interdisciplinary Sciences at Renmin University of China. He has been recognized as a Wu Yuzhang Young Scholar, Top Ten Teaching Role Models of the university, and a frequent guest on the "Movie Night" program of China National Radio’s Literary Voice channel. Additionally, he is the Deputy Director of the Special Committee on Chinese Language and Literature under the National Virtual Simulation Alliance, a Beijing Distinguished Young Teaching Scholar, and a National Young Innovator in Broadcasting, Television, and Online Audiovisual Media. His primary research interests include film and new media arts. He has published several monographs, including The Representation of the Underclass: Urban Nomads in Contemporary Chinese Cinema, City and Modernity: Reframing Early European and American Cinema, Introduction to Film,Urban Observations in Cinema: The Spatial Production and Sensory Experience in Contemporary Chinese Cinema, and Shadows of the Motherland: Red Classic Films and Their Contemporary Echoes. He has also translated and edited works such as The Inspiration of Fashion: A Guide to Key Thinkers and Understanding Painting: From Giotto to Warhol, and has published over 80 research papers in core academic journals.
