John Gualteros is currently a researcher at Compensar University in Colombia and was formerly a Postdoctoral Researcher at East China Normal University. He holds a Ph.D. in Modern and Contemporary Chinese Literature from Peking University. His main research concentrates on the relationship between Latin American and Chinese literature, with particular emphasis on magical realism, the political unconscious, and cultural identity. His major works include Magical Realism from a Global Perspective (2024) and Latin American Magical Realism and Contemporary Chinese Literature (2021). He also published the first Spanish translation of Hai Zi’s poetry collection, Spring Rises Before the Sea (2024). In 2023, he was appointed to the Youth Committee of the World Conference on Sinology.
