Nicolas Standaert is a professor and dean of the Department of Chinese Studies, University of K.U. Leuven, and member of the Belgium Royal Academy of Sciences. His research primarily focuses on the history of Sino-European cultural relations during the late Ming and early Qing. His notable works include Inculturation: The Gospel and Cultures,Methodology in View of Contact Between Cultures: The China Case in the 17thCentury, and The Interweaving of Rituals: Funerals in the Cultural Exchange between China and Europe, etc.
