Duola is a professor and Ph.D. Supervisor at Qinghai Normal University (QHNU), a Changjiang Scholar Distinguished Professor appointed by the Ministry of Education. He has been selected as a national candidate for the "Million Talents Program" and honored with the title of "Outstanding Young and Middle-aged Expert" by the national government. He has long been engaged in teaching and research in the fields of linguistics and applied linguistics (computational linguistics), Tibetan information processing, and ethnic minority languages.

Additionally, he concurrently serves as the technical director of the YunZang search engine, a member of the Tibetan Information Standards Working Group of the National Informatization Standards Committee, an executive director of the Ethnic Language and Writing Information Professional Committee of the China Chinese Information Processing Society, and a council member of the Language Resources Professional Committee of the China Modern Language Association.
