Zhang Yanfei is currently a researcher under the "Hundred Talents Program" at the School of History, Zhejiang University (ZJU). She concurrently serves as a researcher at the Research Center for Confucian Business and East Asian Civilization an academic advisor at the Department of International Development, University of Oxford, a mentor at the Qizhen Interdisciplinary Innovation and Entrepreneurship Lab of Zhejiang University, and Deputy Secretary-General of the Hangzhou Ancient Capital Culture Research Association. Her main research area is history of Chinese thought, with a focus on the conflict and fusion between Confucianism and the regional cultures of Wuyue and Jingchu during the pre-Qin to Wei-Jin periods. She is also dedicated to digital humanities research and host the "Intelligent Imperial Examination Platform" project. His German-language monograph,  Das Motiv des Yuejueshu: Analyse des Buches aus geschichtlichem, literarischem und philosophischem Blick , has been published.
