VILLAGRÁN, Ignacio is an associate Professor of International Political Science at the Faculty of Social Science, University of Buenos Aires (UBA); Director of the Argentina-China Study Center at UBA, and an Associate Professor of East Asian Studies at National University of General Sarmiento (UNGS).

His research areas include Ancient Chinese political thought and administrative practice; earlyand medieval Chinese social history andreligious practices as well as contemporary international relations and the dynamics of cooperation and exchange between China and Latin America.

His representative works includeChina Studies in Argentina: Institutional Changes and Research Status (2019), "Sturdy Boulders that Protect the Realm": Early Chinese Thinkers on Decentralized Governance (Early Medieval China, 2018), and "Being in Time: What Medieval Chinese Theorists can Teach us About Social History" (co- authored, in Chinese Thought as Global Theory, SUNY, 2017).

He has curated exhibitions on Chinese artifacts and cultural productionsand has served as a consultant for national and provincial government agencies.
