Bankuwiha Etienne, a Ph.D. candidate at Nanjing University, serves as Deputy Secretary General of China-Burundi Friendship Association, President of Burundi Chinese Translators Association, and is a researcher at the African Great Lakes Region Research Center of Zhejiang Yuexiu University. He worked on international Chinese education at the University of Burundi for three and a half years.

His main research areas include Sino-African comparative literature and cross-cultural studies, international Chinese education and Confucius Institute research.
