Jieun Youn is a Ph.D. candidate at the School of International Studies, Peking University (PKU). Her main research interests include China–U.S. strategic competition, latecomer countries’ strategies for technological catch-up, and National Innovation Systems (NIS). She has published multiple articles in academic journals such as The Journal of Modern China Studies  and The Journal of Asiatic Studies , and several book chapters are forthcoming. Her research topics include a comparative analysis of China–U.S. technology diffusion regimes; and an examination of shifts in China’s science and technology innovation concepts and policies during the Reform and Opening-up period, along with their modern implications.
