Cameron Campbell is the Acting Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Science (SHSS) at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), and a Distinguished Professor at the School of History and Culture, Central China Normal University. His primary research areas include family, demography, and social stratification. He has published 66 peer-reviewed research articles, some of which have appeared in top sociology journals such as American Sociological Review, American Journal of Sociology, and Demography. His representative works include Fate and Fortune in Rural China (Cambridge University Press, 1997) and Life under Pressure: Mortality and Living Standards in Europe and Asia, 1700–1900 (MIT Press, 2004).
