Tang Lina holds a Ph.D. in Sociology and completed postdoctoral research in Statistics. She is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at Renmin University of China and serves as the Secretary-General of the Statistics History and Culture Branch of the China Society of Probability and Statistics. Her research focuses on history of statistics, the history of sociology, social survey research methods, the construction and curation of survey databases, and digital governance.

She has published extensively in academic journals such as Statistical Research, Sociological Review, and Youth Studies. Her authored works include Social Survey Data Management: Managing CGSS Data Based on Stata14. She has also edited the 48-volume A Century of Marriage, the 4-volume Collected Works of Wu Jingchao, and Mapping China's Narrative in Modern Times: A Compilation of Historical Materials on Data Visualization in Modern China*. Additionally, she contributed toHistory of Chinese Statistics (authoring the Republican section) and Encyclopedia of China: Statistics.
