HUA Jianguang is currently an associate professor and deputy secretary of the Party Committee and vice dean of the School of Chinese Classics at Renmin University of China (RUC). He also concurrently serves as the deputy director of both the Institute for Ancient China and Silk Road Civilizations Studies at RUC and thedeputy director of the Center for Digital Humanities Research Center. His main research area include the semantics, syntax, and discourse of ancient Chinese; the study of Shuowen Jiezi (an ancient Chinese dictionary) and textual research on early Chinese classics, as well as the digitizationof ancient books and the annotation and translation of early Chinese classics. His representative works include the Mood Particles in the Handing-down Literature of the Warring States Period and A Study of Zero Anaphora in the Zuo Tradition . A notable article is The Transitivizing Process and Mechanism of the Two Motion Verbs zhi (至) and wang (往).
