Heo Chul is currently a researcher at the Jampijae Institute of Busan University, South Korea. He was previously a visiting scholar under the Qilu Visiting Scholar Program of the Confucius Foundation of China. His primary research areas include the study and education of Chinese characters and Classical Chinese (classical Chinese) worldwide, digital humanities related to East Asian characters and ancient texts, and cultural exchange and knowledge transfer within the East Asian Sinosphere. Recent publications include: Theoretical and Practical Approaches to Classical Chinese Language Analysis (forthcoming), Constructing and Analyzing Chinese Character Civilization Data and Its Relation to “Digital Literacy” (2023), and Experiences in Developing Cursive Script OCR Using Artificial Intelligence (2023).
