HU Heng is currently the Director and professor of the Institute of Qing History at Renmin University of China (RUC), as the Deputy Director of the University's Research Office, and the Vice President of the Institute of Digital Humanities. In these fields, he has conducted in-depth research and explorations (Note: The original text had "mathematics," which is presumed to be a typographical error and corrected to "explorations" or "research" here for clarity). He presided over the construction of the “Digital Qing History Laboratory” (a data-sharing platform for Qing history).. His representative works include Imperial Power Not Reach ing the Counties? —County- administered Administrative Regions and Grassroots Social Governance in the Qing Dynasty , Administrative Governance in Marginal Areas—A Re-examination of the Prefecture System in the Qing Dynasty and the co-authored volume A Hundred Years of Qing History Studies: Historical Geography Volume . In addition, he has published more than 40 academic papers in journals such as Historical Research , Modern Chinese History Studies , Qing History Journal , and Literature and History .
