Patricia Castro Obando holds a PhD in Anthropology with a specialization in China, through a joint program developed at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and Peking University in China with a Hanban scholarship. She is currently a professor at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú where she teaches courses on Chinese topics. She is a member of the Network of Sinologists and Translators of Chinese Literature and Culture, a member of the Latin American Regional Council of Sinologists, and a member of the International Order and Regional Orders Research Group. She worked as a lecturer in the Department of Foreign Languages at Peking University and a news anchor and editor at CGTN Spanish channel. She has been recognized by the Government of Peru through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2012) and the Ministry of Women's Promotion and Human Development (2002).
She has published Passionate about Peru: 18 stories of Chinese characters with the same Peruvian heart(2013), We the Hakka. Trajectories in China and Peru(2021) and Loving Love. Anthology of 38 Chinese women poets of antiquity(2024) co-authored with Wang Shishen, etc.
