Liu Huiqin is a Research Fellow and Doctoral Supervisor at the Institute of Education, Tsinghua University (THU). She currently serves as the Party Committee Secretary of Tsinghua Shenzhen International Graduate School, Director of the Ministry of Education-Tsinghua University Joint Research Base for Graduate Education Strategy, and Director of the THU Center for Engineering Education Research.   Additionally, she holds several key academic leadership roles: Vice Chair of the Academic Committee, China Academic Degrees & Graduate Education Association; Chair of the Graduate Education Studies Professional Committee; Vice President of the Higher Education Management Branch, China Association of Higher Education; Member of the 8th National Committee for Higher Education Institution Establishment Review, Ministry of Education; Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Research in Graduate Education. She has received two National Teaching Achievement Awards, including the Special Prize (highest honor) in 2005 for Innovation and Practice in the Educational Mechanism of Professional Master's Degrees in Engineering.

Her research areas include higher education policy and management, graduate education, engineering education, future education and learning systems.
