Dr. Nur Shahadah Jamil is currently a senior lecturer at the Institute of China Studies, Universiti Malaya (UM), and co-convener of the East Asian International Relations (EAIR) Caucus. She is a recipient of the Taiwan Fellowship (2017) and Korea National Diplomatic Academy ASEAN Fellowship (2023). Her research focuses on East Asian security, China's foreign policy, ASEAN and the South China Sea dispute. Her published works include China' s Xinjiang Policy: An Analysis Based on the theory of Relative Deprivation
