Vice-President Chen Yulu Attends Information Exchange Conference on Setting Up Confucius Institutes in Africa

October 7-8,2008: An Information Exchange Conference on Setting Up Confucius Institutes in Africa was held in Beijing, organized by the Leadership Group office of the State Hanban. Education Minister Zhou Qi attended the opening ceremony and gave a speech, and Xu Lin, Director of the Hanban and Director-General of the Confucius Institute Headquarters gave a progress report on the setting up of Confucius Institutes in Africa. Vice-President  Chen Yulu attended the conference representing Renmin University, and, together with other delegates from China and abroad, expressed opinions on the direction of development and key work issues regarding Confucius Institutes in Africa. The Zimbabwean Confucius Institute that Renmin University is helping to construct was used as a model of excellence, and a progress report presented to the conference.
