Roland Boer is an "Overseas Talent" professor at the School of Philosophy, Renmin University of China. He was formerly a professor in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Newcastle, Australia. His research interests include Marxist philosophy, Marxist biblical criticism, and critical theory of religion. His representative works include Criticism of Heaven: On Marxism and Theology, Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door: The Hebrew Bible and Cultural Criticism, and Socialism with Chinese Characteristics: A Guide for Foreigners, etc. In 2014, his book, The Criticism of Heaven and Earth (five volumes), was awarded the Isaac and Tamara Deutscher Memorial Prize.
