现代诗歌和外语的问题
有些中国现代诗人用外语写诗歌，有些则把他们用中文写的诗自己翻成英文。他们用外语发表的诗歌属于中国文学还是外国文学？不少中国现代诗人受到了外国诗歌的影响。他们看的是原文，不是翻译。如果要了解他们的写法，我们可以不研究他们阅读过的原文吗？那么，不会外语，可以认真地研究中国现代诗人吗？我的报告想说明，外语，翻译和写作都有密切的关系。所以研究中国现代诗歌需要外语和翻译理论等等。

Modern Poetry and the Problem of Foreign Languages
Some modern Chinese poets have been writing poetry in foreign languages, others have translated their Chinese poems into English. Are these poems published in foreign languages a part of Chinese literature, or do they belong to the literatures of other languages? Many modern Chinese poets were influenced by foreign poetry. These poets used to read the original text, not translations. If we want to understand their way of writing, can we possibly neglect the research concerning the original texts which they read? If this is so, can we thoroughly study modern Chinese poets without knowing foreign languages? My presentation wants to show that there is a very close connection between foreign languages, translation, and writing of literature. Therefore the study of modern Chinese poetry needs the understanding of foreign languages, a theory of translation etc.
