Dean of Edinburgh University Divinity School Visited IPCLC and Had Seminars with Students

On May 25 2012, the current Dean, Professor Stewart J Brown, and the former Dean, Professor Larry Hurtado, of the Divinity School of University of Edinburgh visited IPCLC. They had a discussion with Professor Geng Youzhuang, Deputy Dean of the School of Liberal Arts of RUC and Deputy Director of IPCLC, with regard to cooperation between the two schools. On the afternoon, the two professors from Edinburgh University had a seminar with Ph.D. students from the School of Liberal Arts and the School of Philosophy.

In the seminar, Professor Stewart J Brown introduced the geographical location, curriculum design and living facilities of the Divinity School. Then he cordially invited teachers and students to Edinburgh University for exchange and research. It is Prof. Brown’s first visit to China and RUC. He was very much impressed by the new library of RUC. He looked forward to further cooperation between the two sides in academic research and student exchanges. Later on, students consulted questions concerning the summer courses of Edinburgh University and the curriculum plans of the Divinity School. The professors also shared with the Students their ideas on biblical study, Islam and Christianity relations, cultural dialogues and exchanges, etc.

Up to now, the Divinity School of Edinburgh University has established cooperative relations with Peking University, Wuhan University and several other Chinese universities. It signed the cooperation agreement with Renmin University of China in March 2012.
