Vice-President Chen Yulu Attends Third Confucius Institute Conference

The Opening Ceremony for the Third Confucius Institute Conference was held in the Great Hall of the People on 9th December 2008. Liu Yandong,Committee Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and a State Councilor, gave the key-note address entitled ‘Strengthen Co-operation, Improve Quality, Together Create a new Phase of Development for the Confucius Institutes.’ Zhou Qi, Minister in the State Education Ministry, chaired the conference and gave a progress report for the past year. The overall theme of the conference was ‘Confucius Institutes and the Globalization of Education,’ and over 1200 Chinese and foreign representatives attended. Chen Yulu attended as a representative of Renmin University. On 10th December, Professor Chen gave a report entitled ‘Global Regionalization and the Developing Confucius Institutes’ to the University Presidents’ Forum.
