Associate Professor in the School of Liberal Arts at Renmin University; Director of Teaching and Research in Film and Multimedia Arts. Supervises Masters students. Editor of the Journal Film and Television Arts produced by Renmin University publications centre. Academic advisor to 'Universities Film Society.' Appointed chief cultural commentator by Friends of Voice and Screen newspaper. Received a third level dissertation prize from the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and in 2006 was awarded a dissertation excellence award by Renmin University. Research in Film Theory and Criticism, Film and Television culture studies; principal research projects include 'The significance of cultural customs in the construction of national film aesthetics.' Has published the monograph Television drama: walking between culture and art – research into television drama post 1990 (Beifang Wenyi, 2006).
