Ji Baocheng

President of Renmin University; Director of the Renmin University Center for the International Promotion of Chinese Language and Culture; Chief expert on the key research project 'Research into the International Promotion of Chinese Language', undertaken by the Education Ministry Philosophy and Social Sciences group. Delegate to the State Council Academic Committee and member of the Committee for Academic Appraisal; Committee member for the Education Ministry Social Sciences Committee; Deputy chair of the Chinese International Educational Exchange Association; Delegate to the National People's Council; honorary doctorate of Korea University.

Professor Ji Baocheng has been responsible for numerous joint international projects funded by the State Academy for Social Sciences; the Education Ministry Social Science fund and the Education Ministry Key Research Centres fund. Representative recent publications include: Research into the setting up of Curricula in Chinese Universities; Chinese higher education at the turn of the century; Writings of Contemporary Chinese Educationalists: Ji Baocheng; Precepts of Management in Ancient China. Several of Professor Ji's scholarly articles have been reprinted numerous times in Chinese and foreign newspapers and magazines and had a wide social impact, including 'Policy choices in the trend for mass participation in higher education in China' and 'The need to strengthen our regard for human social sciences in the new century.'
