KERN, Martin
Professor in Asian Studies and Chair of the Department of East Asian Studies at Princeton University, co-editor of T’oung Pao. Director of the International Center for the Study of Ancient Text Cultures, Renmin University of China. Main research fields include literature, philology, history, religion, and art in ancient and medieval China. Major publications include Confucius and the Analects Revisited: New Perspectives on Composition, Dating, and Authorship (2018); Origins of Chinese Political Philosophy: Studies in the Composition and Thought of the Shangshu (2017); Qin Shihuang shike: zaoqi Zhongguo de wenben yu yishi (2015); Ideology of Power and Power of Ideology in Early China (2015), various edited volumes and some eighty articles and book chapters, including the opening chapter in the Cambridge History of Chinese Literature.
