LOW, Shiang Yii

Low Shiang Yii（娄缃旖）is an assistant professor at the Center for Southeast Asian Studies, Xiamen University, Ph.D. in Law from Peking University. Her research focuses on Island and Maritime Cultures, Ethnicity and politics. Her doctoral dissertation was an ethnographic study of the Malaysian island of Bangkok, exploring the dynamic relationship between mobility, locality and cosmopolitanism in island societies. Her major publications include “The interrelations Between global Mobility and local Organization: A case study of Marine Fisheries in Pangkor island.”
