On November 16th, the Chinese International Education Foundation (CIEF) organized a special event titled “Brilliance of CI” to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Confucius Institute (CI) as part of the World Chinese Language Conference. During the event, 41 individuals—including foreign dignitaries, sinologists, university presidents, and Confucius Institute directors from 34 countries—were honored with “Brilliance of CI” gratitude plaques. Wu Yan, Vice Minister of Education of the People's Republic of China, presented the plaques to 34 attendees in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the development of Confucius Institutes and Chinese language education.

Among the recipients were Professor Richard Trappl from the University of Vienna and Professor Alexey Rodionov from St. Petersburg State University, both serving on the Executive Council of the World Conference on Sinology at Renmin University of China since 2014. Additionally, Professor Wang Liming, director of the Confucius Institute co-founded by Renmin University of China and University College Dublin, was also honored with the “Brilliance of CI.”
