Dr. Birgit Linder Conducts Research at IPCLC
From May 31 to June 14, 2009 Dr. Birgit Linder, Associate Professor of Hong Kong City University came to work at IPCLC as a Visiting Scholar.
Birgit Linder was educated in Germany and in the United States. She received the equivalent of a Master’s degree (1990) in Sinology, Dutch Literature, and Political Science from the University of Cologne, Germany, and a Master’s degree in Chinese Literature (1994) and a Ph.D. (1998) in Chinese and German Literature from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Since then, she has served as a Research Associate and a post-doctoral fellow at Beijing University, and taught at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Beijing University, and Skidmore College in New York. She has taught in the areas of Chinese literature, culture, and film, cultural studies, comparative literature and translation studies for over ten years, and has published on pre-modern and modern poetry and fiction, and comparative literature. She presently teaches Comparative Literature, Cultural Studies, and Translation Studies at City University of Hong Kong.
